the two just dont mix!

These two things do not equal anything good when one, is in another! Today just hasn't been a very lucky day for me! As most of you know about a month ago my Palm Treo took a swim into the very nsaty and very green pool when I was trying to get it clean. Well, I got a new phone and today my new phone decides to jump out of my back pocket and dive into the lovely toilet at my parents house! What is it with my phone and wanting to swim? I cant imagine why they would want to dive into such a nasty place, I mean really!!

So my poor phone is now drying out and it will turn on for a second then it will start trying to text and do voice commands. If my phone calls you and there is no one at the other end....SORRY!

WHAT A DAY!!! just sayin'. Hope everyone had a better day than I did :)

2009 is coming!

I can not wait for 2009. So much happened in 2008 that I wish hadn't happened and some things that I am glad happened. I am not a person to make New Years Resolutions. I don't believe in them. I feel it sets you up for failure and I just don't want that. I do keep in my mind things I would like to accomplish but if I don't get them done, then maybe next year Lord willing I will get them done. I absolutely hate when people say I am going to loose weight and start my diet January 1st. Why not start now? Why wait until Monday or new years day?? In one of the blogs I read, they said here is a list of things I will not do in 2009, I still think you are setting yourself up, but whatever. So I am going to say "I will try to do these things". First, I want to be healthy. I want to get to a point where I feel great about myself and my appearance. Second, I want to learn to forgive and be happy. I am going to start now and not wait until 2009 though, just sayin' :)

Be done, move on!

Why do people these days feel they have to drag something out till there isn't anything to drag anymore? I just don't get why people can't forgive and move on. I am speaking to myself too! This world would be a happier place to live in if we were taught to love more and forgive more. Everyone at some point in their life has been hurt by someone and I think everyone just needs to grow up and move on. In class one Wednesday night a lady spoke up and said," You may ask God for forgiveness and he forgive you, but you still have to deal with the consequences that your sin brought on". I do think that is true to a point, but at sometime that consequences has to fade away! Be done, move on! Just sayin'

What the heck!!

So this morning the tornado sirens went off at 5:30AM. I know I should be grateful we have these things but why do they have to go off when there is NO tornado!!! I just sat down after getting JR off to work at 4:45am and I thought to myself "why go back to bed, just to wake up in an hour" so I got a cup of coffee and sat down to watch some much needed TV (I know, there is never a "need" to watch TV...roll with it) I get all cozy and start watching a DVR'd show and then all heck explodes. Sirens a-blarren (yes, a-blarren its a southern word), Ali crying, dogs barking! WOW what a way to tense a mom up! In the process of trying to switch the DVR to regular TV to see if my house was about to be sucked up into a whirl wind, I accidentally deleted my show!! I finally get the kids on the couch wrapped in blankets, the TV on the news, then they say The National Weather in B'ham jumped the gun a little too quickly the Tornado warning for Montgomery has expired! WHAT...so when we were possibly in danger the sirens DIDN'T go off BUT when we were no longer under the warning they go OFF...Hummm....maybe someone should check on that...I'm just sayin'

What is a Friend?

Webster says:
1 a: one attached to another by affection or esteem b: acquaintance2 a: one that is not hostile b: one that is of the same nation, party, or group3: one that favors or promotes something (as a charity)4: a favored companion5capitalized : a member of a Christian sect that stresses Inner Light, rejects sacraments and an ordained ministry, and opposes war —called also Quaker
— friend·less fren(d)-ləs\ adjective
— friend·less·ness noun
— be friends with
: to have a friendship or friendly relationship with

Now here is what Helen says:

A friend is someone you can call anytime of day NO MATTER what. A friend is someone who truly knows the "real you".

In the Military some people have their A,B and C friends. Each letter stands for the level of friendship. (A) is the person that you call and they will be on a plane coming to be by your side and, are also B and C combine. (B) is a friend that you call a couple times a month if you live far way and if you live in the same town you go to dinner etc. (C) is the friend you can catch up with and it be the same as the day you left. Now,I know that may sound weird to you, but it is true! I have those friends, but never thought of it that way until I heard a friend here explain it.

My true friends know when I am hurting and can tell by my voice or the look in my eyes that I need to talk and they will be there to listen.

So do you have your A,B and C friends? Do you agree or disagree?

Oh and girls (insert sassy Helen talk here) *Dont be asking which one you are! (hand on hip and pointer-finger in the air)

**To have a friend you must be a friend....I'm just say'n**

Just thinking...

I am just wondering what other people think about and want to know more about. Do you want to know more about the bible, your spouse or just life ??

In class each week at church we are reminded that we don't know everything about our spouse and we never will. I personally think I know everything about my spouse. Now, I may forget from time to time what he likes eat but pretty much I know him.

I always think about when Jesus' is coming back. Some say that is healthy, some say its not. Sometimes I am afraid to sleep at night because I don't want him to come back, not yet anyways (which is selfish of me,I know). As a child I always imagined him coming in the middle of the night when everyone is sleeping. Of course I know that no one is sleeping all at the same time! But, when I was smaller I did think that. I have a wild imagination. I am a very visual person. If you say something to me, I am most likely picturing what I think that thing looks like or is or how it was. So when I read the Bible and about Jesus' return I get very visual and I guess I want to see for myself actually what it is like. I know...I am CRAZY! Really though am I the only one that does that?? Come on be HONEST!

So tell me what are your "crazy" things you do?? I want to get to know you :)

The Lord's Supper

At church last Sunday I had the privilege to be in the nursery during the service. In the nursery there is a big flat screen TV in there so the workers can watch and listen to the service. Well I noticed that Communion wasn't the way we do it most times. There wasn't a prayer before the bread (body) and the juice (blood). It was all done at the end and during this time you were to talk to the person next to you and serve them( some very confused, and then not in the right frame of mind to even take Communion!). Now, I know Matthew 26:17-30 gives the example of how Jesus' wanted this done each Lord's day. Why does the man that "conducts" the communion for that day think he can change it up and do it the way he wants and never mind how Jesus' wanted it done. Conducting the Lord's Supper is not a chance to prove a point or show the way you want things. It is a time to reflect and focus on him. It is hard enough to pray and focus with the worship team singing and now you are just going to, not pray until the end and then make sure we get in the giving part. I am still a firm believer in sticking to what the Bible says and the examples it gives. Now, some people will say the Bible isn't clear on most things but I will tell you it is very clear about the Lord's Supper and I say we stick to that! I'm just say'n!!

MEN?!

So I know this a touchy subject. Most guys/men don't even want to hear or read what I am about to say but....I really don't care. I guess I am also wondering if I am alone in thinking all this and having it happen to me in mt life?????

I just don't understand why men have to be like they are! Why cant you open up and tell us what you are thinking and feeling? Show us a side that you don't show other people. Be that loving and gentle person. Dare I say, be a "little gay" and just be "more" than what you give everyone else out in the real world.

Why is it that when the man does something so hurtful to a woman, we are not allowed to bring it up again to TRY to talk it out and TRY to get past it,but we cant get past it because you either 1. keep doing that thing over and over OR 2. You wont talk about IT so we have to keep bringing it up to have hope that one day you just may have a break through and actually talk. BUT heaven forbid the woman do the "wrong" thing. I bet that man would leave so fast, they say they wont only because they have no idea what it feels like to be...

What happened to the guy that opens the ladies doors and treats her like she is #1(now for you that are going to say God should be number one.... blah blah, I get it I am talking about here on earth). I watch older couples at church and I long for that type of relationship.Walking hand and hand with no worries. There is a couple that sits in front of us at church and I love just watching how they interact with each other. They are so sweet. He even hands her the communion trays first then he gets his.He respects her so much! This man is so thoughtful and you always know who he is thinking about. She is one lucky lady!

Now,I don't mean to step on any one's toes writing this, I just simply want to know where men are coming from these days. Please men give me your in-put I would love to read it!

I'm just say'n guys, lets step up your game!

Sorry Mark, you asked for a new post....I am sure not this kind though.

Comments?

First of all thank you to everyone that have posted comments. I appreciate everyone's unique view-point.

Now, I have looked at blogs as more of a round-table type discussion by people who are interested in the topic being discussed. If it doesn't interest you then you move along. That is what I love about the comments. I get to hear what other people actually think. People that don't have comments on their blogs make me wonder. Are you afraid of what you might hear from people that actually care enough to spend time and write? Are you "looking out" for the other readers by stopping any possibility of fights?

If you are afraid of what people will say, then don't post anything controversial. Post puppies and kittens playing together nicely.

If you are afraid of conflict from your readers, well, moderate the comments. If you have two adults with differing view points, they should be able to work it out on their own. You don't have to protect them. People should be able to formulae arguments and they will only get better at it with practice.

I cannot fathom why you wouldn't have comments so enlighten me. I'm just sayin'.

We be Jamm'n.... or should we??

It is time for a new subject. I am still not so sure about all the other topics but whatever. LOL!

The subject is, Music in the church?? My friend and I have gone around in circles about this subject a few years back but I respect the opinion of some of you, so what are your thoughts? Should there be a band playing at church or even a piano?

I personally think that just using your voice is the best way to go but there are some Churches of Christ now that have started having bands playing at their #2 service. Which that is another thing...its sad that churches have to have 2 different services. One for the old people and one for the younger crowd.

So let me have it, should we be jamm'n in church?

I will leave you with this, Psalms 27 (one of the many), for those that believe we should look at scripture to find our answers....I'm just say'n :)

Enough already!

They say its not a racial thing but why is it every time I turn the radio on or TV on I hear Martin Luther King giving his "I have a dream speech"? On the way to the grocery store I am flipping the radio channels and I hear this rap song come on and say, "We need a black President". So you say its not a racial thing.... are you sure ?? On The View today, Sherry is crying because now she can tell her son (which is black,by the way) that you can do it just like Obama, now there is nothing standing in your way. If it wasn't a racial thing then why would she say that to her child. Her son could be who he wants to be no matter the color of his skin. Now read what Whoppi said. She said, "Now pull your pants up,and act right". Whoppi can say that but if the white girl on the panel said it, she would have been torn a part by the media and her co-workers. I just pray that the "whole world" wasn't celebrating last night because Obama made deals with all those countries. It is very weird the way all those people around the world were celebrating. He will not be their President,he is going to be the US President, right....Did they show all that around the World when any other President's was elected?? I don't think so. It makes me wonder....

...In Jesus Name, Amen.

Thanks for the myriad of responses to the last post. NEW TOPIC!

So, the kids were told by Grandmama that if you don't end your prayer with the verbiage, "in Jesus name, Amen" it doesn't get heard by God. Really? What about the "un-churched"? God doesn't hear their prayers? I'm just sayin'... your thoughts?

what to believe??

There have been some things that have come up in my life lately that I am just not so sure about. I want to think that I all of my 30 years of going to church would count for something but lately I'm not so sure. Yes, I was raised Church of Christ in a once conservative church, so I thought. I think I am conservative to this day when it comes to church. I am not one to hold my hands up during prayer or while singing and I am not one to clap and move my hips while singing in church. That's just how I was raised but not only that, I don't feel comfortable doing it anyways. Now here is where I don't know what to believe. All my life I have been told if one divorces due to a affair the other person is free to re-marry but if you divorce for any other reason or you are the one that had the affair you should not re-marry. I have looked at the scripture and it says just that, but is it really saying that. You can not marry or you will go to hell. OR is it saying I don't advise you to re-marry? I truly want peoples thoughts and view on this, even if I don't know you. I am so confused. I don't want to think one way if it really means another way. I don't want to make people feel like I am judging them either. I just want clarification for my own heart and soul not for anyone else or to prove someone wrong or right. Please, this is open for discussion and there will be no deleting a persons comment if I don't agree with it. This is something I have struggled with for a while. If you ask the people you were raised by of course you will get the answer you were raised with, but if you ask other people it will help seeing other views and make you think more. So if in fact anyone reads this blog don't be shy give it to me straight!

Fire Proof

A few weeks ago we went with our church family to see the new movie Fire Proof. It is a great Christian based movie basically dealing with what a lot of people are dealing with in there marriages. It is not everyday that they make a movie for theater, that number one is a Christian based movie and number two a actually movie that you can learn from spiritually. Now, it seems that everyone is going crazy about this movie saying it changed their life etc. I really wish I could say that it changed my life and we are good now but it didn't. I didn't even cry while watching the movie. Everyone else(not sure about JR) did and I feel kind of guilty for not crying,I guess I have cried enough. I feel like I missed something. I feel like God spoke to everyone else while watching the movie but he forgot to talk to me. Since the movie came out our church has started a class based on it and I hear there will be sermons from it etc. I pray I can get something out it from that and maybe I can figure out what I missed. To tell you the truth I am kind of sick hearing about it. I think it is sad that it took a movie for some people to say "Oh now I got it, I need to change". I would hope that going to church and reading your bible would do that for you. Maybe we just live in a world that has to have that kind of thing for the light to go off and be like duh,now I get it. Most of you know JR and I have been through a lot this past year. The movie should have hit home but I guess we have been praying and working on our marriage long before the movie so maybe I felt we were past that point and not turning back. In writing this I am figuring out that since we were past it ,the movie just brought up a lot of hard feelings that I have worked so hard at forgiving and forgetting. It was like I was being reminded of our past every time I hear about Fire Proofing your marriage and we actually had to Fire Proof it and now I am done and ready to move on or at least trying to move on. Now I am not saying don't go see the movie because I am all for it and we need to show that the movie makers need to make more Chritaian movies, I just wish people wouldn't talk about it every Sunday and make me re-live the past! That's what's on my heart this morning :)

this whole election thing...

here is my two cents on it all. I feel that whoever makes into office is what was actually suppose to happen. The saying "Everything happens for a reason" I think is true, now I could go on and on about that statement and give examples but I am ready for bed :) I will say that I am not going to worry about. I feel that God is watching out for us and if we do our part with prayer then what happens, happens and that's that :) Now do I have a guy in mind that I want to win, heck yeah I do. I am human! So people just pray about it...I'm just say'n!

Just a quick update

So my dad is home from the hospital. He is still recovering but at least he is HOME! As for the gig JR was going to do next weekend, that has fallen through. I just see it as everything happens for a reason and we may not ever know that reason but...life goes on and we look for other ways to live out our dreams. Speaking of dreaming....I wish I was dreaming right now. I haven't been sleeping well. I guess I have a lot on my heart. I am thinking I need a vacation! (**hint hint** honey)

I have become a blog stalker! Yes,I said it!! My name is Helen Diboll and I read blogs at 2am. It is funny to read peoples blogs from church. You really get to know that person or their family even though you have never said one word to them. The things people say crack me up! You have this vision of how they are but when I am reading their blog I realize that they are all just like myself and JR. One day I will leave a comment, most of the time someone else beats me too it. I am a little shy though, but most of all I am scared you have no clue who I am and then I would feel really stupid later :) I am a dork I know!

So that is what's going on here, just a mom/wife that cant sleep that much. Goodnight!

Pretty funny stuff

My wife sat down on the couch next to me as I was flipping channels. She asked, “What’s on TV?”I said, “Dust.”And then the fight started…=======================================================================My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, “I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 150 in about 3 seconds.”I bought her a scale. And then the fight started…=====================================================================When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive... so, I took her to a gas station...And then the fight started....=====================================================================After retiring, I went to the Social Security office to apply for Social Security. The woman behind the counter asked me for my driver's license to verify my age. I looked in my pockets and realized I had left my wallet at home.I told the woman that I was very sorry, but I would have to go home and comeback later. The woman said, 'Unbutton your shirt'. So I opened my shirt revealing my curly silver hair. She said, 'That silver hair on your chest is proof enough for me' and she processed my Social Security application. When I got home, I excitedly told my wife about my experience at the Social Security office. She said, 'you should have dropped your pants. You might have gotten disability, too.'And then the fight started...===============================================================My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table. My wife asked, 'Do you know her?''Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.''My God!' says my wife, 'who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'And then the fight started...============================================================I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny?Yeah, well I couldn't believe it... he was a DWARF!!!He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!'So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'And then the fight started...<>

Fashion

Why does the fashion these days have to make you look pregnant? I went shopping today to get out of the house and to just get my mind of things. I went to my favorite place to shop which is Kohl's. Well while browsing through all the clothes I started to noticed that it seemed in every section was maternity clothes! I am pass that stage in life thank you very much! I want to look like I have a waist. I haven't been going to the gym 4 to 5 days a week so I can wear clothes that make me look 5 month pregnant!! I'm just say'n!!!!!

those people

What about those people that are always saying "New Post" please.......just kidding :)

This one is for Mark:

People that drive 10 under the speed limit now to "save gas" are idiots! Just drive the speed limit so you don't cause a wreck, how about that! That way you will save on your car insurance and that my dear is not going to go up and down, it will just always keep going up and for no reason.

and no this is not a blog-a-whine...it is just my thoughts and I have a lot of them, but I am going to be nice. This is just to see if I am crazy or if other people were thinking the same thing :)

The garbage men

Why is it that when you don't wake up early enough to put the garbage on the street the men come at the crack of dawn BUT....if you get the trash out on the street the night before, they wait until after lunch to pick up your trash?? Wouldn't it be better for everyone if they just came at the same time each trash day.....I'm just say'n!

blinkers

Why dont people in Montgomery use their blinkers? It comes with the car so why not use it. It is not like you have to pay to get a blinker so USE it! I'm just say'n

Walmart carts

Why do the cart guys at Wal-Mart have to push the carts right behind your car and leave them? I mean come on! Might as well push them inside once they are all together. I'm just say'n!
